Growing Our Program

Since it's inception,  the Next Level Power Skating program has been almost exclusively focused on training players and referees age 12+. Base Camp is our next step in providing technically solid power skating instruction to younger/less experienced skaters.

Building a Foundation

Designed for newer skaters ages 8-12, our new Base Camp series will provide your skater an opportunity to build into the weaknesses in their stride. Without specific instruction, bad habits can sink in for any skater and will later impact the efficiency and speed of the athlete. At Base Camp, each skater will work to build their stride from the ground up, exposing weaknesses and removing bad habits.

Focus on Technique

Base Camp is not nearly as "Fitness-Focused" as our High-Intensity/Conditioning Clinics. Instead, we break down each aspect of the posture, push point, stride extension and recovery, and provide close up technical instruction to work through and correct any bad habits that might be holding your skater back.

Immediate Application

Instead of working on a variety of skills at the start followed by a later application period, the workout format of Base Camp will provide immediate, game speed application of the skill set that was just developed. This allows the skater to focus on developing a specific skill, practice it slowly, then immediately apply it at full speed.

About Our Base Camp

What Should I Expect from Base Camp?

  • Base Camp is designed to build the proper foundation for powerful, efficient skating so that it can be applied every time the skater takes the ice moving forward.

  • By isolating specific movements, the drills will expose and improve upon the weaknesses in their skating technique.

  • We do everything evenly, left side and right side, forward and backward.

  • Once a skill has been practiced, it will be applied immediately so the skater will retain the new techniques better.

  • Repetition. Base camp is designed to give every skater as many reps as possible to help solidify the new technique.

Who Benefits from Base Camp?

  • Base Camp is designed for newer skaters, or skaters who have developed a variety of bad habits and are struggling to break out of them.

  • While not a "learn to skate" program, it is a "learn to skate better" program. It will expose and then develop the weak areas of each skater.
